20 Mar Sweat the Small Stuff!
Have you ever had a problem that you ignored and it eventually went away? Feel great, right? You didn’t have to tackle it because it seemingly resolved itself. This can be the worse thing that could happen.
Why? Because when we have problems that we ignore, it only trains us to keep ignoring them until it is too late or they have a devastating effect.
The faster you can attack even small problems, then the easier it will be to resolve them and prevent them in the future.
Think of it this way…
Let’s say that you’re camping and a few embers from your campfire jump out and land on the ground. If you’re there monitoring the fire – no problem. You can put water on them, if needed. But, let’s say instead that you start the fire and walk away and keep it unattended. Then those small ambers that should have been easy to contain can now spark a forest fire.
The same is true in your business. One month of negative returns isn’t a problem, but if that one month turns into 6 months – then you have a BIG problem. Likewise, losing one client, though it isn’t ideal – it happens. But, losing one client every week signals something is going wrong in your business.
The point is, all big problems likely start out as small ones that we inevitably ignore. So, this week I challenge you to pinpoint those small problems that you’ve been leaving unattended and create a plan to resolve them. The sooner you act, the quicker you can prevent them from escalating out of control.
