24 Apr Break Out of Your Comfort Zone
Quick question for you, when is the last time you stepped outside of your comfort zone? Like pushed yourself to do something you thought was impossible, felt uncomfortable, or forced you to struggle in order to grow.
I often do this with my physical fitness. Whether it is completing an Ironman triathlon to pushing my body to the limit by climbing a mountain for 48 hours straight, I find that when I go after the impossible, I am truly able to tap into my inner strength. All too often, as business owners, we allow complacency to set in.
You know the “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality. Though this could be safe to eliminate or reduce risk, it doesn’t help you grow and expand your ways of thinking. If you want to be a Peak Performer, you must challenge the status quo. You must be willing to consider the impossible. And, above everything else, you must be ready to put yourself in situations that will encourage you to grow.
So, this week I invite you to spend some time reflecting on what areas in your life and business are you playing it safe. Where could you use a challenge to see things differently? Chances are good that there is at least one place within your business that you need to put the pedal to the metal and try something out of the norm.
When I’ve done this exercise with my business, I’ve found amazing (and profitable) business opportunities that were right there under my nose. When you take on new challenges, you’ll suddenly shift your perspective enough to make even better business decisions and to generate innovative business ideas.
