If It’s to Be, It’s Up to “We”

Shift Away from “Me” To “We”

If It’s to Be, It’s Up to “We”

Fill in the blank… “if it is to be, then it is up to _____.”

Did you say “me”?

If you did it is okay because I would have said the same thing.

As entrepreneurs and business owners, we often think in terms of “me” or “I”. You might use phrases like, “I can do it” or “I can make it happen.” But, what if you shifted your mindset and thought in terms of “we”, instead of “I”?

Think about it…

How much more could you really do if you leveraged those around you and did not solely depend only on yourself?

I lived most of my life thinking I could do it all – and many times I did get a lot done. But, I could have gotten even more done, faster, with less stress on my plate, and maybe with even a much higher success trajectory.

By not having a team around you to support you with your personal and professional goals, you could be working against yourself. You could be capping your potential, but more importantly, you could be diminishing how much more you could achieve in the future.

Think of it this way…

You could extend your workday by 3 hours to personally do more yourself. Or, you could hire an assistant and get more done in less time. Which would you choose?

As business owners, recognizing that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. If you want to perform at your peak, you have to find ways to work smarter, not harder. And, transforming “I can do it” into “We can do it” is key.

This week I challenge you to reflect on your short- and long-term goals and identify one or two people you can recruit to help you achieve that goal.
